Focus Media’s Design Work Earns Three National Awards from Graphic Design USA

focusFocus Media, Inc., a leading Hudson Valley advertising and public relations firm, has received three American Graphic Design Awards from Graphic Design USA magazine. Senior Art Director Kathryn Houghtaling, Associate Art Director Emily Garozzo, Senior Web & Graphic Designer Kevin Green and Designer Mary-Ann Ellsworth were honored for their outstanding work in publication and Internet design.

The national awards, which are given out annually, recognize graphic design work across many categories, ranging from print and packaging to web and interactive design. This is the second consecutive year Graphic Design USA magazine has recognized the firm with awards. The firm received one award each in both the publication and brochure design categories in 2012. This year, Focus Media received awards for its work with three of its clients — Monticello Motor Club (publication design), Hudson Valley Economic Development Corporation (Internet design) and Judelson, Giordano & Siegel, CPA, PC (Internet design).

Focus Media’s work on the inaugural issue of Monticello Motor Club’s Motor Club Magazine featured crisp graphics and an attention-grabbing layout, appealing to the driving enthusiast on every page. Its mix of graphics and text has made the publication an effective sales and marketing tool for prospective members.

For the Hudson Valley Economic Development Corporation, Focus Media developed a Web site to supplement its regional 3D printing industry cluster initiative, HV3D. The Web site was launched in conjunction with the initiative’s announcement event, which was used as a resource by attendees and the media, as well as those currently interested in the industry. The site presented clearly-defined information including fast facts, exclusive videos, founding members and more.

Focus Media’s web development team created a user-friendly Web site for accounting and business consulting firm, Judelson, Giordano & Siegel, CPA, PC. The practical functionality of the site keeps visitors engaged and helps them find exactly what they need. Using the client’s branding and messaging as a framework, the site has an overall sophisticated look.

The American Graphic Design Awards competition is open to all in the field of graphic arts and design, including advertising agencies, design firms, publishers and more. More than 8,000 entries were submitted from across the country; only 15 percent were recognized with certificates of excellence. Graphic Design USA is a news publication for graphic designers and other creative professionals across the country.
