Goshen, N.Y.  (June 1, 2011) – Focus Media, the Hudson Valley’s largest marketing and public relations firm, proudly partnered with Ulster County Tourism to produce the county’s comprehensive 2011 Travel Guide.

Focus Media was responsible for copy development, design and layout for the 68-page, full-color magazine. The Travel Guide will be available at 100 locations in Ulster County, including three rest areas on the New York State Thruway (one of which is the information center on Exit 19), six all-weather kiosks and the county office building.

“We were honored to be selected to work on this very important project,’’ said Josh Sommers, President and CEO of Focus Media. “The Travel Guide showcases Ulster County’s rich history, exciting lifestyle and cultural opportunities. It was a pleasure to work with Ulster County Executive Mike Hein and Tourism Director Richard J. Remsnyder on this successful project.”

Focus Media, which was recently named the fastest growing public relations agency in the eastern U.S. and second-fastest in the nation by PR Week, developed several new innovative features for the 2011 Travel Guide, which included:

  •  A pullout map that charts the county’s recreational assets, key attractions and cultural spots.
  • A graphic design that captures the county’s scenic beauty and vibrant activities.
  • Paid advertising that helped pay for the production of the Travel Guide.
  • A QR code that will allow readers to scan the back cover with their mobile device to quickly access a form to be added to the mailing list for the 2012 Travel Guide.

The Travel Guide provides a variety of information for residents and visitors. Highlighted in the glossy is Hudson Valley’s premier attraction – the Walkway Over The Hudson – a walking bridge 212 feet above the Hudson River. At 6,767 feet (1.28 miles), it is the world’s longest elevated pedestrian bridge. It was formerly the Poughkeepsie-Highland Railroad.

Readers can learn about the pair of bicentennials taking place in Ulster County this year – in Saugerties and Esopus. The Travel Guide highlights the county’s great outdoors – from biking, to boating, to rock climbing, to cross-country skiing, to tennis. Details are provided about these and so many more activities Ulster County has to offer. And, there is indoor recreation. Visitors can dine at one of the county’s many fine restaurants, look for antiques or shop for fresh produce at one of Ulster County’s unique farmers’ markets.
