GOSHEN, N.Y. (March 16, 2015) – Nancy Kriz of Chester has joined Focus Media, Inc. – the Hudson Valley’s largest and award-winning, full-service public relations and marketing firm – as its Public Relations Manager.
In her role, Kriz assists with various public relations/communications matters for Focus Media and its clients. She works closely with account executives and senior staff on a wide range of content development projects.
Kriz brings more than 30 years of experience to the agency, working in the non-profit public relations and journalism fields. She’s held positions as National Public Relations Director for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, and as Director of Communications at Nyack Hospital. She began her career working for a Rockland County weekly newspaper, and still writes for The Photo News, a member of the Straus News family, with corporate offices in Chester. There, she won a first place New York State Better Newspaper Contest Award for best feature obituary writing.
A former adjunct assistant professor at Iona College, Kriz is currently an adjunct faculty member at Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh, teaching public relations and journalism courses. She also works in the continuing education department at SUNY Orange.
Kriz earned her master’s degree in communications from Iona College, her bachelor’s degree in public relations/journalism from Utica College of Syracuse University and her associate degree in humanities from Rockland Community College.
A volunteer in her community, Kriz serves as Publicity Director for the Monroe Girl Scout Service Unit, as a Girl Scout Leader and as Vice President for the Monroe-Woodbury Parents Advocating Gifted Education (PAGE) group. Additionally, Kriz assists with publicity needs for the Friends of the Monroe Free Library and the Monroe-Woodbury Music Boosters group.
