Easley brings more than 20 years of journalism experience to the firm
GOSHEN, N.Y. (Aug. 8, 2016) – Hema Easley of Chester has joined Focus Media, Inc. – the Hudson Valley’s largest and award-winning, full-service public relations and marketing firm – as a Public Relations Manager.
In her role, Easley assists with various public relations/communications matters for Focus Media and its clients. She works closely with account executives and senior staff on a wide range of content development projects.
Easley, an award-winning reporter, brings to the agency more than 20 years of journalism experience in Asia and the United States. She began her career in India as a correspondent for The Associated Press where she covered business, politics and the India-Pakistan conflict. She later moved to New York to become a staff writer for The Journal News in Westchester. In her last position at the Times Herald-Record, she covered business news in the Hudson Valley.
Easley’s articles have been published in the Los Angeles Times, the Washington Post, USA Today and several other media outlets. Her dispatches from South Asia have been discussed on the floor of the U.S. Senate and the House of Representatives. In 2016, she won the New York News Publishers Association Awards for Excellence and the New York State Associated Press Association Award in the business journalism category.
Easley earned her master’s degree in history from Delhi University, India, and a bachelor’s degree from St. Stephen’s College in India. She has taken several non-degree journalism courses at Columbia University and Poynter, and received training for war correspondents by Centurion Risk Assessment Services in Hampshire, U.K.
