In a recent survey by the Real Christmas Tree Board, 23% of those who purchase Christmas trees said they planned to try real trees for the first time this year. And no wonder. Christmas tree fans said a real conifer makes their home more festive (85%) and enhances their holiday experience (83%). If the holiday can get stressful, you should know that 83% said the scent of a pine tree relaxes them.

Nothing matches the enchantment of a real tree, grown in the fresh air, and Orange County’s tree farms teem with selections that are perfect for the color and sparkle of your living room decked for the season.

Here are some of the many places in Orange County to find the perfect tree: 

Airfield Farms, 64 Holmes Road, Newburgh, N.Y.: Find a pre-cut conifer beginning Black Friday, Nov. 29. Also peruse charming wreaths and holiday décor. In 2018, the farm planted 1,000 saplings to grow into trees that families can cut themselves. While those are still growing, the farm offers a selection of beautiful trees already cut.

Emmerich Tree Farm, 101 Sleepy Valley Road, Warwick, N.Y.: With more than 10,000 trees in more than a dozen varieties of spruce, fir and pine, Emmerich Tree Farm is sure to have the perfect Christmas centerpiece for you. Take a wagon ride to the field and create cherished family memories as you search for the perfect Christmas tree on this picturesque farm! Create your own holiday wreath in their wreath making class! Stop in the gift shop and enjoy hot cocoa, cookies, and music to enhance the holiday shopping experience. Check the website for an up-to-date inventory of trees. Reservations are required for both tree-cutting and wreath-making.

Manza Farm and Garden Center, 730 Route 211, Montgomery, N.Y. Chose from their huge inventory of fresh cut Christmas Trees, beautiful wreaths and other Christmas décor. Santa comes for a visit every Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Pierson’s Farm, 1448 Route 211, Middletown, N.Y.: Make a reservation to cut your own Christmas tree or come without one of their pre-cut trees. Accessories and decorations including wreaths, kissing balls and more can be found inside their gift shop. Immerse yourself in the season with a class in making wreaths or centerpieces. Warm up with a cup of hot cocoa and other treats during your visit. Pierson’s opens Nov. 29 and is open daily except Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Wright Family Farm, 329 Kings Highway, Warwick, N.Y.: Choose a tree from a selection of Fraser firs and Balsam firs ranging in size from tabletop up to about twelve feet! Shop for wreaths, garland and other seasonal décor before you go.
