August 2, 2011 (Washingtonville, N.Y.) – Hearthstone Contracting, one of the Hudson Valley’s premier commercial and residential contractors, has been selected to make a deserving family’s dreams come true with an extreme home makeover as part of the Emmy-award winning reality TV show, ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.
“We look for builders with big hearts, great skills and a strong connection within their own community,” explained Milan Vasic, Senior Producer Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. “Hearthstone was the perfect fit.”
Hearthstone was chosen as the contractor for this ambitious project because of owners Andrew and Margaret Stahl’s reputation for excellence and commitment to the community. They are active in the local community and involved with a variety of not-for-profits including Hospice of Orange and Sullivan County and the Greater Hudson Valley Family Health Center.
“We know that this is a massive undertaking and that Hearthstone would not be able to do this alone, but the response from our community has already been immense,” explained Andrew Stahl. “There is nothing too big to conquer when your support system numbers in the thousands,” continued Margaret Stahl. “What a great gift for us to be able to do this for a deserving family!”
Hearthstone and their initial partners who helped get the project off the ground, including Orange County Government officials, the Orange County Chamber of Commerce, Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan, MAG Designs, RAL Supply Group, MJS Engineering and Land Surveying, and Focus Media, Inc., have pledged their time and expertise to this project, in addition to dozens of other local vendors and contractors who are joining the team. Not only will a new custom home be built in just one week, but all products, services and labor will be donated by the many partners, suppliers and volunteers.
Several deserving families from the Hudson Valley region are finalists under consideration for the build by the show’s producers. Before the end of the summer, one lucky family will be surprised with a knock on the door by Ty Pennington and the Extreme Makeover design team, and perhaps the most ambitious construction project to ever come to the Hudson Valley will begin.
Everyone is encouraged to get involved, and the public can start by joining the build team for an old fashioned, kick-off Pep Rally at 6pm on Thursday, August 11th at the Orange County Community College Physical Education Building, 115 South Street, Middletown, N.Y.
As an added community benefit, before we “Move That Bus” the organizers plan to “Stuff The Bus” with a food drive to benefit the Food Bank of the Hudson Valley. Donations of canned and non-perishable food can be dropped off at the Pep Rally, and the following locations: Food Bank of the Hudson Valley at 195 Hudson St, Cornwall-on-Hudson; St. Paul’s Mission at 58 W. Main St, Middletown; Grace United Methodist Food Pantry at 265 Van Ness St., Newburgh; and Hope Center Food Pantry at Drew United Methodist Church, 49-51 Sussex St., Port Jervis.
