Empire Resorts, Inc. hosts JOBS event in Ulster County for Resorts World casino

Types of jobs available, required qualifications discussed

ELLENVILLE, N.Y., (May 9, 2017) – Empire Resorts, Inc. hosted a Job Opportunity Briefing Session (JOBS) on May 8 for Ulster County residents interested in working in a variety of jobs at the Resorts World casino.

Nearly 100 people attended the event held at Ellenville High School on Maple Avenue. Executives from Empire Resorts provided updates on the resort casino project, hiring timelines, the benefits of working for Empire Resorts, and how best to acquire the skills needed to be hired for these positions.

Charles A. Degliomini, Executive Vice President of Empire Resorts, Inc., the parent company of the Resorts World casino, informed attendees that an estimated 2,200 jobs will need to be filled before the resort complex opens in March 2018. It will include a casino, an entertainment village, a golf course and a water park.

The resort casino is being built to a five-diamond standard, said Degliomini, and would operate at the highest level of luxury and refinement, drawing visitors from the region, the country and around the world.

“Our success is going to be your success. By virtue of the casino, we want to create a middle class,” said Degliomini. “We are building and operating the casino resort as a union project. Sixty to 70 percent of the jobs will be well-paying union jobs.”

Vice President of Human Resources Fran Kneisc provided a detailed description of the jobs that will be available, including those in marketing and public relations, security and surveillance, culinary and pastry arts, hospitality, finance and accounting, information technology and gaming. She also shared that Empire Resorts planned to open a dealer school in Monticello in the fall to train the approximately 600 dealers it planned to hire. Empire Resorts plans a second dealer school in Orange County.

“The heart of our organization is our team members,” Kneisc said. “We are looking for team members who want a career, not just a job, who are engaged, who will help us develop best practices. Our team members will be providing guests the best guest service experience in the world.”

While a small number of people are already employed by Empire Resorts, hiring would ramp up in the last quarter of 2017 and in the early months of 2018.

“Get yourself as qualified as you can. It will be competitive,” said Degliomini. “The time to start is now. We are less than 300 days from opening.”
