New member contributes experience in multicultural marketing, community relations
GOSHEN, N.Y. (July 9, 2012) – Elant, the Hudson Valley’s premier provider of senior health and housing solutions, has appointed Ruben Estrada to its Board of Directors.
A resident of Monroe, N.Y., Estrada brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in multicultural marketing, community relations and government relations to the Elant Board. He has extensive expertise in public relations and marketing, with a strong background in working on Hispanic and multicultural-driven initiatives.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Ruben Estrada to the Board of Directors,” said Donna Cornell, Chair of Elant’s Board of Directors. “Mr. Estrada’s rich professional background, enthusiasm for community activism and experiences in working with multicultural groups will be invaluable to our Board.”
Estrada has acted as an ambassador of sorts on behalf of Orange County, attracting new businesses and investment initiatives. Most recently, he is responsible for the interest of a delegation from The People’s Republic of China who have expressed an interest in forming a sister city relationship and exploring the possibility of establishing an agricultural college on the grounds of the now vacant Mid-Orange Correctional Facility. A Chinese delegation of government and business representatives from the Shanyin District of Shanxi Municipality visited and toured with local officials of the Town of Warwick.
As the Co-Chairman of the National Borinqueneers Stamp Committee, he recently was presented New York State legislative resolutions by the state Senate and Assembly in support of a commemorative U.S. postage stamp to be issued in honor of the Borinqueneers 65th Infantry Regiment. The 65th Infantry Regiment of the U.S. Army, a unit of soldiers from Puerto Rico referred to as “The Borinqueneers,” was the only all-Puerto Rican regiment in United States history, many considered a segregated unit. He has also worked as a community and public relations business liaison for Affinity Health Plan in the Bronx, where he forged connections between the company and various community organizations, business leaders and other officials.
From 1993 to 2001, Estrada served as the Vice President of Government Affairs, Strategic Marketing/Sales and Community/Public Affairs with Spanish Broadcasting System in New York City. There, he researched, developed and managed campaigns for the radio broadcast company. In addition, Estrada became a key leader and developer of the first Hispanic American, African American and Asian American coalition of minority media and broadcasting groups.
“I’m honored to be appointed to the Elant Board of Directors,” said Estrada. “This is a very talented Board, which has some of the best people in the home health services industry. I look forward to working alongside these professionals to further Elant’s mission.”
