Local organizations benefit from members’ hard work and generosity

Goshen, N.Y. (August 29, 2011) – Several residents of the Elant at Goshen Nursing Care Center have taken their usual fundraising activities to another level, deciding to pay it forward. A portion of the funds raised, which usually go toward resident activities, this year are being donated to organizations in the community.

Food Bank of the Hudson Valley, People for People Fund, and Inspire were all presented with $50 on behalf of the residents at Elant. Checks were given to both Food Bank of the Hudson Valley and the People for People Fund in April, and on Thursday, Aug. 18, two Elant at Goshen residents presented a check to Elizabeth Rowley, Community Relations Director, and Mindy Circell, Community Relations Associate, both of Inspire.

The donation presented to Inspire was to be put toward the organization’s Pajama Drive, which provides hundreds of pajamas to children in the area who have never owned their own new pair. Last year, the drive collected over 1,000 pajamas for everyone including newborns and children up to 18 years of age.

The donations were part of an ongoing effort from Elant residents, who have been working on projects with the goal of giving back to the community. Mark LaBruna, Elant at Goshen Director, who was also in attendance at the presentations, has been working with the residents to assist them with this initiative.

“It is a cause like this that touches your heart,” LaBruna said. “I am so proud of our residents for wanting to give back to their community.”
