Goshen, N.Y.

(July 20, 2011) – The Elant Foundation’s 4th annual Elant Golf Open raised more than $50,000. The event, held July 14 at the Dutchess Golf and Country Club in Poughkeepsie, was sold out – with 144 golfers.

The event’s proceeds will go toward enhancing Elant’s environments and incorporating technology resources for residents to communicate with loved ones far away, as well as purchasing software to enhance the cognition of residents suffering with dementia.

“Elant is extremely grateful for those businesses and individuals who supported our 4th annual golf outing to make it the great success it was,” said Melissa McCoy, Elant Inc.’s Director of Corporate Initiatives. “Our collaboration with the businesses in the communities we serve is a vital part of our existence. Their support of Elant shows a commitment to the families of these communities.”

Sponsors were highlighted throughout the day on carts, programs and signage. Players were greeted at the carts with towels and a selection of snacks for the course. They received embroidered golf shoe bags with numerous donated items inside. Players had lunch on the patio and a cocktail hour and dinner with awards afterward.

“Today’s golf outing by Elant was exceptional,” said M. Angelo Genova III from the law offices of Angelo Genova in New York City. “It was one of the best run and most enjoyable I have attended, and I attend a lot of outings. The personal attention and details were noticed and appreciated by players and sponsors. It was a pleasure to be a part of a fundraiser for such a worthy regional resource like Elant.”

He is largely responsible for making the Walkway over the Hudson (www.walkway.org) open to the public, gathering support to convert the Poughkeepsie Railroad Bridge, built in 1888, into what is now a park over the Hudson River and an international tourist destination.

Schaeffer talked of how Elant’s residents have enjoyed the Walkway over the Hudson. “The fact that residents of Elant have had the chance to enjoy the walkway confirms its ability to reach those for whom it was intended to be enjoyed by.”

“We are most appreciative to Med-World, an Omnicare Company for their Title sponsorship, as well as those business and community leaders for their commitment in planning and executing the day’s success,” said Todd A. Whitney, President and CEO of Elant. “They are Kevin Armistead, Armistead Mechanical; Tim Scanell, Mobile Life; Ed Cucurrullo, Energy Consultant; Julie Whitney, Volunteer; Joe Peixoto, Healthtrac; Sam Diamond, Triple A Supplies; and Bill Fioravanti, YMCA Middletown.”
