Convenience of service will also keep residents more safe and independent
GOSHEN, N.Y. (March 1, 2012) – Elant, the Hudson Valley’s premier provider of senior health care and housing solutions, is pleased to announce a new partnership with Access Physical Therapy and Wellness, which has opened a new office within the Elant at Goshen Adult Home.
Access Physical Therapy and Wellness, a provider of outpatient physical and occupational therapy, will now offer these services on-site to residents of the Elant at Goshen Adult Home. The service allows residents the convenience of being treated for outpatient therapy, should they need it, in the comfort of their home – eliminating the need to arrange for outside appointments and transportation.
“The convenience of having therapy available on-site is much appreciated by our residents,” said Laura Dillon, Elant at Goshen Adult Home Administrator. “We know that by working together with the therapists, we will keep our residents as safe and independent as possible.”
Access Physical Therapy and Wellness will receive referrals directly from the residents’ primary care physicians and will collaborate with Elant at Goshen Adult Home staff to set up patient screenings and treatment plans.
“Elant is such a quality and caring organization,” said Stephen Albanese, PT, CSCS. “Access Physical Therapy and Wellness is excited to provide physical and occupational therapy services to the residents of the Elant Adult Home in Goshen. Being at the Adult Home will allow us to provide the same expert, compassionate level of care in a way that is most convenient for these residents.”
Access Physical Therapy and Wellness will be available as a resource to the Elant at Goshen Adult Home and will develop fall prevention programs and assist with environmental assessments. They will also provide on-site education to the residents and staff.
Laura Castronuovo, an 87-year-old resident of the Adult Home, has had a history of falls but is much stronger now after receiving rehabilitative services three times a week with Access in the Adult Home.
“One day I was visiting my mother, and she got up next to her walker and started walking toward me and stood for a few minutes,” said Mrs. Castronuovo’s daughter, Phyllis Miklaszewski. “I was so surprised. It had been so long. And, from that day I have seen such an improvement in her strength. My children have even noticed how big of a difference there is now that Mom is going to Access Therapy right in the Adult Home.”
Mrs. Miklaszewski likes the convenience of having the physical therapy right at the Adult Home and believes that convenience, along with the patient, encouraging and comforting people at Access and Elant, have helped her mother emotionally as well. “I am so pleased that Elant has this program there and that my mother is getting stronger physically. That strength will give her a little bit of help to walk, go out to see a show and stand up and clap at the end. Everyone should enjoy this program.”
