New Windsor – A leading biotechnology and life sciences executive is the newest member on the board of the Hudson Valley Economic Development Corp.
Dr. Charles J. DiComo, Corporate Compliance Officer for Aureon Biosciences, Inc. in Yonkers, has long been a supporter of HVEDC’s efforts, but will now be a board member, as well. DiComo also has been a key backer of NY BioHud Valley, the marketing and branding effort that aims to draw more life sciences companies to the region and establish the Valley as the epicenter of biotech development in New York state.
HVEDC is the leading economic development agency for the seven-county region that includes Westchester, Putnam, Dutchess, Rockland, Orange, Ulster and Sullivan counties.
“We’re very excited to have Dr. DiComo join us at HVEDC,” said Michael Oates, CEO and President of the group. “He has a deep understanding of biotechnology and the life sciences sector. In addition, he and his colleagues at Aureon have a proven record of what it takes to grow a biotech company in the Hudson Valley. He’ll be a great asset to our board.”
DiComo said that he has been long been a proponent of increasing the interaction, promotion, and attraction of biotech and life sciences companies. He was involved from the inception with NY BioHud Valley, and believes the sector can be an even bigger driver of high-quality jobs across the region.
“This is a major growth industry,” DiComo said. “We’ve seen great strides in the past few years. BioHud Valley really showcases this critical mass. It really ties everything nicely together.”
