THE SULLIVAN to Open This Summer
May 29, 2012 (Rock Hill, N.Y.) – The Sullivan – Simple. Local. Elegant. Perfect. Everything Butch Resnick envisioned when he promised to transform The Lodge, the former motor lodge in Rock Hill into a modern boutique hotel.
With renovations in high gear and a June grand opening planned, Resnick turned to the local community to name the new property which will feature the hotel, BHR Bernie’s and Crust on a campus just off Exit 109 on Route 17.
Creating a contest across several local Facebook pages, including Uncensored Sullivan County New York News and Politics, Catskill Summers and his personal page, Resnick sent out the call for suggestions, offering dinner for two at Bernie’s BHR for the winner. The response was overwhelming, with approximately 500 names submit for consideration and suggestions are still coming in.
However, Nathan Steingart’s suggestion of The Sullivan was perfect. “We wanted to choose a name that best represented the hotel,” explained Resnick, “as well as the county. We look at the name The Sullivan as giving back, which has been central to everything we’ve done here. We’re using local guys — tradesmen, suppliers and employing local people…so it seemed natural to invite the locals to help name it. We are investing in the county we live in and we want to the community to be a part of what we’re doing here.”
The new facility will provide Sullivan County residents, tourists, business travelers and guests an unparalleled hotel experience with two onsite restaurants – Bernie’s BHR and Crust, special event space, plus on- and off-site catering in a stylish, modern and comfortable environment.
