May 15, 2013 – Monticello, N.Y. – Combined Energy Services (CES), a locally owned propane & fuel oil company serving the Hudson Valley and Catskills, is proud to announce the hiring of Spencer Monroe as Propane Autogas Sales Executive to assist in building awareness of the new alternative fuel technology.
Monroe, of Forestburgh, N.Y., joins CES with more than 40 years of personal, technical automotive experience. A retired general contractor, Monroe has spent his entire life building cars and trucks and has become extremely familiar with the automotive industry. A lifetime Sullivan County resident, he has maintained relationships with automotive dealers and companies with automotive fleets across the county and region.
“CES is excited to have Spencer on board to promote our state-of-the-art, automotive propane options,” said Mike Taylor, co-owner at Combined Energy Services. “He brings great knowledge of the automotive industry and is a well-known personality in many social circles around Sullivan County and surrounding areas. His knowledge of the automotive field will help raise awareness of this opportunity for consumers and businesses.”
Propane autogas conversions with CES include complete refueling infrastructure, professional grade equipment and installation through local, reputable automobile dealerships in the region. CES is so dedicated to the technology that it has converted 18 of its own trucks and expects to save $5,000 per vehicle annually on fuel costs alone by running on clean, affordable propane autogas.
“In addition to monetary savings, we also know a green fleet means cleaner air,” said Taylor. “These conversions are popular nationwide with emergency service departments, personal transport companies, utilities and school bus companies. Our goal is to help businesses around the region convert to clean, efficient propane autogas and improve their bottom line.”
According to the National Propane Gas Association, propane is cleaner than gasoline and diesel with respect to most major pollutants, including carbon monoxide, and provides from 18 to 20 percent reduction in total carbon dioxide emissions relative to gasoline. New technology allows these vehicles to run seamlessly on either gasoline or propane, extending the trip range while also emitting less greenhouse gases, cutting maintenance costs and saving over 40 percent on fuel costs over gasoline. Municipal, state and federal tax credits are also available.
Autogas is propane (C3H8), or liquid petroleum gas, when used as a vehicle fuel. With more than 15 million vehicles worldwide running on autogas, it is the most widely used alternative fuel in the world, just behind gasoline and diesel. The conversions utilize bi-fuel systems, which automatically switches to gasoline if a fueling station cannot be reached when the autogas tank is running low.
Family owned and operated since 1968, Combined Energy Services is one of the largest propane gas and fuel oil suppliers in the Hudson Valley. With two offices in operation, CES has provided customers throughout the Catskills, Hudson Valley, Eastern Pennsylvania and Northern New Jersey with dependable propane gas, fuel oil and kerosene deliveries, as well as unmatched, around-the-clock repair service.
