Sullivan County energy supplier now provides propane gas vehicle conversions

February 29, 2012 – Monticello, N.Y. – Combined Energy Services (CES), a locally owned propane & fuel oil company, is driving clean and saving green with the addition of its 8th propane autogas-powered vehicle. CES expects to save $2,000 per vehicle annually on fuel costs alone by running on clean, affordable propane autogas.

CES is also helping other fleets in the region save money and reduce emissions by shifting from gasoline to autogas. Autogas averages $1.05 per gallon less than gasoline, and vehicles emit 20 percent less carbon monoxide, 40 percent less nitrogen oxide and 12 percent less carbon dioxide than gasoline vehicles.

“Combined Energy Services has provided safe and reliable propane gas delivery and equipment services for many years to the Hudson Valley and Catskills regions,” said co-owner Mike Taylor. “Now that the technology has grown to include vehicular applications, we’re excited to now offer this safe, money-saving service to our community.”

New technology allows these vehicles to run seamlessly on either gasoline or propane extending the trip range while also emitting less greenhouse gases, cutting maintenance costs and saving over 28% on fuel costs over gasoline. As a matter of fact, CES has extended this technology to its fleet customers by offering on-site propane tank installations and bulk delivery.

The U.S supply of propane autogas is 90 percent American made, and it is the most widely used alternative fuel globally. CES is also helping other fleets transition to autogas, recommending vehicle conversions centers, fuel supply, on-site fueling station installation, and ongoing technical support and training. The conversions utilize bi-fuel systems, which automatically switches to gasoline if a fueling station cannot be reached when the autogas tank is running low.

“Not only is CES dedicated to ensuring more area fleets can get up and running on autogas, we’re committed to running our own vehicles on this environmentally friendly fuel,” said Taylor. “The bottom line is that autogas is a viable domestic fuel that is ready to use, now, and American fleets can’t afford not to make the switch.”

Family owned and operated since 1968, Combined Energy Services is one of the largest propane gas and fuel oil suppliers in the Hudson Valley. With two offices in operation, CES has provided customers throughout the Catskills, Hudson Valley, Eastern Pennsylvania and Northern New Jersey with dependable propane gas, fuel oil and kerosene deliveries, as well as unmatched, around-the-clock repair service.
