Forum will inform parents of students with disabilities about programs, services and accommodations
MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. (Aug. 2, 2017) —- The Mount Vernon City School District will host a “Chat and Chew” Forum, for parents of students with disabilities, on Tuesday, Aug. 15 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Rebecca Turner Elementary School at 625 S. 4th Ave.
The forum, hosted by Board of Education President Adriane Saunders and Vice President Wanda White, will offer parents of students with disabilities information about their children’s school, programs, services and the accommodations available to them.
“This is a wonderful opportunity to learn about the district’s intensive academic instruction and how we support students with disabilities in the least restrictive environment,” said Saunders. “The district is committed to enhancing positive communication and strong relationships between home and school and we believe a forum like this reinforces that.”
Parents will also meet Felicia Gaon, the district’s director of student services, and Rachel DePaul, assistant director of special education. Parents are also asked to bring their questions and concerns to the forum.
A light dinner will be served.
