Catskill Regional Medical Center Receives More Than $80,000 During Annual Heart-a-Thon

Local radio station WSUL helps to raise funds for much needed equipment

Harris, NY – The 42nd Annual 98.3 WSUL Heart-a-Thon took place on Friday, February 21, 2020 in the Woodland Wildlings Garden Café, located on the Hospital’s ground floor. The radio station broadcasted live from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. with the annual event raising more than $80,000 and donations continue to come in.

Members of the 2020 Catskill Regional Heart-A-Thon Committee.

“The Heart-a-Thon recognizes the commitment of the community to our hospital,” said Catskill Regional’s CEO Jonathan Schiller. “We cannot thank our partners and generous donors enough for their dedication to this yearly event.”

All proceeds from Heart-a-Thon presented by the Sullivan Catskills Visitors Association are earmarked exclusively for hospital use. This year, the funds will help subsidize the purchase of a new echocardiogram unit.

The event broadcasted live on 98.3 WSUL, and featured guest speakers, guest host segments with community leaders and personalities, information and tips about heart health and a variety of health care demonstrations. Donors had their “in honor of” pledges read aloud on the air.

Event sponsors for the 42nd Annual 98.3 WSUL Heart-a-Thon presented by the Sullivan Catskills Visitors Association included SUNY Sullivan, Jeff Bank, Yellow Cab, Merrell Benco & Lawrence Miller Insurance Companies, NYSCOPBA, Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, Foster Hospitality and More.

“This year the committee worked very hard to raise a lot of money and the community helped us achieve our goals for funding,” said Catskill Regional’s Director of Patient Experience Jodi Goodman. “
