April 11, 2011 – Harris, N.Y. – Catskill Regional Medical Center (CRMC) has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval™ for accreditation by demonstrating compliance with The Joint Commission’s national standards for health care quality and safety in hospitals. The accreditation award recognizes CRMC’s dedication to continuous compliance with The Joint Commission’s standards.
CRMC underwent a rigorous, unannounced on-site survey in December 2010. A team of Joint Commission expert surveyors evaluated CRMC for compliance with standards of care specific to the needs of patients, including infection prevention and control, leadership and medication management. The accreditation applies to all CRMC locations and divisions, including the main Harris campus, Grover M. Hermann Hospital in Callicoon, the Skilled Nursing Unit and primary care locations throughout Sullivan County.
“The Joint Commission accreditation demonstrates our commitment to quality patient care and our dedication to improving the level of care we provide to the residents of Sullivan County and its surrounding communities,” says Steven Ruwoldt, CEO of Catskill Regional Medical Center. “Achieving Joint Commission accreditation, for our organization, is a major step toward maintaining excellence. I am proud of our entire staff, and they should be commended for their hard work and dedication to maintaining and building upon our high standards of quality health care.”
The Joint Commission’s hospital standards address important functions relating to patient care and hospital management. The standards are developed in consultation with health care experts, providers, measurement experts and patients.
