CATSKILL DISTILLING COMPANY NAMED FOUNDING MEMBER OF HUDSON VALLEY FOOD & BEVERAGE ALLIANCE

NEW WINDSOR, N.Y. (September 5, 2012) – Catskill Distilling Company, a Bethel-based company that produces fine distilled spirits using a blend of tradition and technology, has joined the Hudson Valley Food & Beverage Alliance as a founding member.

The distillery produces a wide range of artisan distilled spirits, including award-winning Catskill Mountain Peace Vodka, Wicked White Whiskey, Most Righteous Bourbon, and Curious Gin, all from locally sourced ingredients.

Located just minutes from the site of the historic 1969 Woodstock Music Festival, now Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, Catskill Distilling Company is a favorite of concert-goers and those who make the trek to see the famous landmark.

“Like other food and beverage companies, we understand the challenges and rewards of working in this industry, and we’re very pleased to give back to the community by joining the Food & Beverage Alliance,” said Dr. Monte Sachs, distiller and owner of Catskill Distilling Company. “We believe that the Alliance will be important in elevating the food and beverage industry in the Hudson Valley, and are proud to contribute in any way we can to the success of both the organization and our fellow members.”

The Food & Beverage Alliance focuses on helping food and beverage companies in the area work together as strong partners and market their products all over the United States. Launched by the Hudson Valley Economic Development Corp. (HVEDC), the organization includes food businesses, farmers, vegetable growers, beverage makers, distributors and other organizations in the industry.

Catskill Distillery Company’s flagship product, Peace Vodka, received the 2012 Double Gold Medal award as the Best Domestic Vodka from TheFiftyBest.com and earned a gold medal in the 2012 New York Food and Wine Classic. Other spirits include Curious Gin, Wicked White Whiskey and Most Righteous Bourbon.

The company also operates The Dancing Cat Saloon, a popular restaurant and bar featuring live music. The Saloon has won a number of awards in recent years, including the Times Herald-Record’s People’s Choice for Best Small Music Venue. In August 2012, the company opened the Stray Cat Gallery, which features paintings, photography, pottery and sculptures by local artists.

“With its quality distilled spirits and the eclectic environment of The Dancing Cat Saloon and Stray Cat Gallery, Catskill Distilling Company has certainly made a name for itself in our region,” said Mike Oates, President and CEO of HVEDC. “It’s an honor to welcome this company to the Alliance, as we know that they bring a new perspective on how we can work together to promote economic development in the Hudson Valley.”
