High Noon Typhoon delivers thrills for adrenaline-seeking waterpark goers
Tannersville, Pa. (July 12, 2018) – Camelbeach Mountain Waterpark, Pennsylvania’s biggest outdoor waterpark, just got bigger! On Thursday, July 12, Camelbeach unveiled its latest thrill ride, the mind-blowing, High Noon Typhoon. Ken Ellis and Arthur Berry, III, co-owners of Camelback Resort, celebrated the park’s newest attraction with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and inaugural ride down the slide.
“There’s nothing Art and I love more than seeing Camelbeach guests of all ages enjoying themselves on these slides, so we do the important research,” said Ellis, who took the Typhoon plunge in full business attire with his ownership partner. “The only way we know a slide will deliver the thrills is to ride it ourselves. That’s why we wore our ‘wet suits’ to work today!”
High Noon Typhoon resides at the highest point on the mountainside waterpark and sits among 36 other rides and slides that define Camelbeach as a must-splash destination for families and waterslide enthusiasts alike. U.S. News & World Report recently ranked Camelbeach Mountain Waterpark among its 30 top waterparks in America, and #1 outdoor waterpark in the Poconos. This recognition further substantiates the park’s reputation as the destination for unforgettable family summertime fun.
“Camelbeach is committed to continuous innovation to ensure the biggest and best waterpark experience,” said Ame Cameron, VP of Sales & Marketing at Camelback Resort. “With its six-story plummet and thrilling twists and turns, High Noon Typhoon will blow your mind. We are excited for our guests to ride this incredible new addition to Camelbeach!”
Camelbeach partnered with Z100 and 99.9 The Hawk to offer listeners the chance to win free admission to the park and be among the first to experience High Noon Typhoon’s epic thrills. Winners were in attendance at Thursday’s opening day celebration.
“We’ve been waiting all day, and it was worth it,” said Madison Johnson, one of four people to board the first tube on High Noon Typhoon. “It was literally so thrilling and so exhilarating; definitely one for the books! This is going to bring thrill seekers from all over.”
High Noon Typhoon invites courageous park guests to a showdown with adventure. Six stories high, the colossal, high-impact ride will satisfy thrill seekers with epic views, extreme speed, awesome G-forces, and exhilarating weightless hang time as they soar over the Pocono Mountain treetops – that is if they’re not afraid to open their eyes.
Plunging riders along a path of both enclosed and open-air segments, riders will enter the starting pool and gain a glimpse of the breathtaking view – the calm before the storm. They’ll climb aboard a Cloverleaf™ inner tube where they’ll be swept in by the current and swiftly tilted into the first high speed section of the enclosed flume. The tube opens to a large funnel, where guests are welcomed by a splash of sunlight and a series of whirling oscillations that shoot riders six stories into the air several times before dropping them to its narrowest point and sending them back into the enclosed flume. As the Typhoon draws to its ‘splashtastic’ ending, riders are rocketed out of the tube into a splash pool.
High Noon Typhoon joins the ranks of Camelbeach guest favorites including Triple Venom, three six-story-tall body slides with whipping turns, plunging drops, and breathtaking speed; Titan, the world’s longest waterslide of its kind that takes the whole family on an amazing eight-story descent with seven switchbacks; Mummy’s Oasis, a family play zone perfect for the little adventurers; and more.
Waterpark aficionados can join the excitement by participating in Camelbeach’s Facebook contest. By posting a photo of their favorite Camelbeach family adventure, participants can enter to win a GoPro camera, four day passes to Camelbeach, a private cabana rental, and complimentary lunch. Guests can also enjoy Camelback Mountain Adventures which offers other thrilling activities, including: USA’s longest zip flyer (4,000 ft.) and Pennsylvania’s only mountain coaster as well as a 100+ aerial obstacle TreeTops adventure course.
Camelbeach is conveniently located 90 minutes from New York City and is open daily from 10:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m., through August 26. For the last week of the season, from August 27 through Labor Day, September 3, Camelbeach will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
