WHY: Camelback Resort will unveil TWO NEW ATTRACTIONS during the opening night of MONSTER MOUNTAIN, the resort’s annual month-long Halloween experience. Debuting will be the 4,500-foot Monster Coaster, the tri-state area’s only “haunted” mountain coaster, and the eight-story Lights Out Zip Line. Camelback has also increased the size of its popular haunted house, Kartrite’s Kurse, by 50 percent from last year, and added state-of-the-art animatronics and lighting to create a unique sensory experience. More traditional Fall Fest activities are also available, including pumpkin painting and apple chucking, as well as Halloween-themed crafts for kids.

Camelback Resort to Debut New Attractions, Expanded Haunted House for Monster Mountain 2017
Tannersville, Pa. – October 4, 2017 – Camelback Resort’s Monster Mountain celebrates its opening night on Friday, October 6 at 6 p.m., and will unveil two new attractions: the one-of-a-kind Monster Coaster and the Lights Out Zip Lines. Both are part of the resort’s unique immersive Halloween-themed experience that has established Camelback Resort as a go-to destination for frightening, family-friendly fun. The event will also introduce the expansion of Kartrite’s Kurse haunted house attraction.
The Monster Coaster is the only “haunted” attraction of its kind – and the only mountain coaster – in the Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey tri-state area. The steel track, gravity-driven coaster sends riders careening 4,500 feet down its wooded slopes, where cutting edge animatronics and lighting have been hidden along the way to add to the exhilaration. Beware the beasts that roam the darkness along the tracks. Narrowly avoid the reach of howling yetis and grizzlies only to find yourself in the path of an oncoming locomotive.
The Lights Out Zip Line hurtles riders 1,000 feet through the pitch black tree tops, eight stories above the haunted happenings below. An eerie light show brings the forest to life all around you for a split second, only to plunge you back into total darkness as you speed toward your final destination along the haunted pathway at Trail’s End.
“The world-class animatronics, including a towering 18 feet tall yeti we’ve added to our iconic Mountain Coaster, are going to blow our Monster Mountain guests away,” said Brian Czarnecki, Camelback’s Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “What makes our two new attractions unique for thrill-seeking guests is the integration of the Halloween spirit into the spirit of outdoor adventure that Camelback embodies year round.”
Kartrite’s Kurse is returning for 2017, and the walk-through attraction has been increased by more than 50 percent. New special effects and live actors deliver surprises and chills at every turn as you follow in the footsteps of adventurer Sir Kartrite Van Der Berris. The labyrinthine path puts visitors in the accursed depths of Egyptian pyramids, ghastly pirate catacombs and other woefully unfortunate locales. To emerge safely, you’ll need to brave the mind-bending warp tunnel and push your way through the collapsing maze.
Visitors will make a day of it at Monster Mountain and enjoy Fall Fest activities for all ages. At the Kids Craft Zone, children can do fall-inspired crafts including Halloween Sand Art, t-shirt coloring, Paint-a-Pumpkin and plenty more. Try your hand at Apple Chuckin’, and use one of Camelback’s specially designed slingshots to launch apples at targets set up on the mountain. When it’s time for a family meal, stroll through the fog on Spooky Trail – from the craft tent, past the Monster Coaster, under the Lights Out Zip line – right down to a table at the Trails End Restaurant. Fall Fest begins this Friday. It will take place throughout October on Fridays beginning at 10 a.m. and at 9 a.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
