The successful school year culminated with the presentation of academic certificates and scholarships.
Goshen, N.Y. (June 12, 2018) – Friday marked the official last day of school at Burke Catholic before the start of exams, and administrators marked the occasion by recognizing the academic successes of underclassmen throughout the 2017-18 school year.
The guidance department announced students who were named to the Principal’s List with averages of 95 or better, to Honor Roll with averages of 90 or better and those recognized for academic achievement with averages of 85 or better. The students honored also had no more than 4 demerits per quarter.
The highlight of the ceremony was the awarding of scholarships to 38 rising seniors from 15 colleges. The scholarships, totaling more than two million dollars, are available to the recipients upon acceptance to the college.
“It was a pleasure to culminate an outstanding school year by recognizing our students’ outstanding academic achievements,” said Janice Clark, Burke Catholic Principal for Academics. “In addition to meeting and exceeding Burke Catholic’s rigorous academic standards, many of our rising seniors have already been recognized with awards and scholarships to prestigious universities from across the country.”
The highest scholarship awarded, the RPI Medal, was presented to rising senior Anna Henderson. Subject specific awards were also handed out to students in the freshman, sophomore and junior classes. And character awards such as the Random Acts of Kindness Awards were distributed for good deeds done throughout the school year.
