Performances for the Burke Catholic’s spring musical are scheduled for April 5-7, 2019
Goshen, N.Y. (March 26, 2019) – The African safari will come to life when Burke Catholic Players take the stage to perform Disney’s ‘Lion King Jr.’ next month. Performances are scheduled for Friday, April 5 – Saturday, April 6, 2019, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, April 7, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. at John S. Burke Catholic High School, located at 80 Fletcher Street, Goshen, N.Y.
Under the musical direction of Patricia Dillon, the show’s director, and Kristina Lattanzio, music director, students in grades 9-12 will journey from Pride Rock to the jungle and back again in the beloved coming-of-age story. Attendees will watch as Simba, Rafiki, and an unforgettable cast of characters perform classic songs, including “Can You Feel the Love Tonight,” “Hakuna Matata,” and “The Circle of Life.”
“This inspiring tale is one we all know and love. It provides our students with the chance to tackle new challenges – both musically and contextually – as they embody some of our favorite Disney characters,” said Lattanzio. “Our students have worked extremely hard preparing for this show and I invite the community to come out for a night of entertainment and delight as we present ‘The Lion King Jr.’”
The cast includes: Christina Pride as Rafiki, Johnny Drumgoole as Mufasa and Simba, Larissa Nothnagle as Scar, Victoria Martinez as Young Simba, Ariana White as Young Nana and Nala, Cat Donohue as Zazu, Tiffany Ramos as Timon, Adriana Pratti as Pumbaa, as well as Isabella Dushaj, Joy Watson, Cecilio Echeandia, Madison Nurse, Alondra Ruiz, Sophia Aulogia, Nia Garcia, Emily Grippo, Mariah Ross, Lorelai Ross, and Finn Predmore.
“My experience with the Burke Catholic players has helped me to grow during my years at Burke,” said senior Christina Pride. “I remember freshman year hearing about the drama club and deciding to join, and I have stuck with every performance here ever since. What I am looking forward to most in this show is being able to hopefully end my senior year with a bang and show how my voice has grown.”
Tickets are on sale for $12 for adults, $10 for students and seniors, and $8 for children ages 10 and under. For tickets, please email thelionking@burkecatholic.org.
