The Barnard School community’s recent Earth Day celebration featured its first Spring Clean Up at Amy’s Greenhouse, based on school grounds. Families, students, former students, teachers, custodial staff and administrators worked together to get the area around Amy’s Greenhouse ready for the annual Mother’s Day Plant Sale and Fair, which will be held on May 13 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Amy’s Greenhouse is a living memorial to Amy O’Doherty, the daughter of former Barnard teacher Geraldine Davies. O’Doherty was killed during the Sept. 11 attack at the World Trade Center. The school community is dedicated to honoring Davies’ wish to keep her daughter’s memory alive by teaching children to respect living things and make the world a better place.
