AUTOGRAPHED “BOARDWALK EMPIRE” PILOT SCRIPT HEADLINES ITEMS FOR ELANT FOUNDATION ONLINE AUCTION
Rory McTigue, Steve Buscemi and Declan McTigue on the set of “Boardwalk Empire.”

Holiday Auction opens today for shopping season

GOSHEN, N.Y. (Nov. 7, 2011) – Looking for a unique item to give your special someone this holiday season? The Elant Foundation Online Holiday Auction kicks off today, with a number of fun and rare items – including the autographed pilot script from the HBO hit series, “Boardwalk Empire,” as well as memorabilia, travel opportunities, tickets for entertainment events and more – up for bid to raise money for the Elant Foundation.

Users can visit www.biddingforgood.com/elantfoundation and place a bid on the “Boardwalk Empire” script or any of the other auction items. The script features signatures from director Martin Scorsese and actors Steve Buscemi, Michael Stuhlbarg, Kelly Macdonald, Billy Sage, Vincent Piazza, Robert Clohessy, Anthony Laciura, Shea Whigham and Michael Kenneth Williams, among others. The final pilot script is dated July 22, 2009, the date the pilot episode was recorded.

The autographed script came as a donation to the Elant Foundation by child actors Rory and Declan McTigue. The 8-year-old twins, who star as Teddy Schroeder in the “Boardwalk Empire” series, are the sons of Sylvia L. McTigue, Chief Administrative Officer of Elant. Rory and Declan have been donating birthday gift money, given in lieu of presents at their request, to Blythedale Children’s Hospital for the past three years. This year, they wanted to also do something special for Elant. They asked the production staff for something special and received the script of the show from the producers of the first season’s pilot episode, and decided that it would make a great auction item to raise money for the organization.

“They’re just naturally very giving boys,” said Sylvia McTigue. “This was their idea to donate something that would help raise money for the residents of Elant.  We are very grateful to the production team at “Boardwalk Empire” for providing this memorabilia for the boys to make a meaningful intergenerational connection and donation.”

The auction will run until Dec. 11, the same day as the season finale for the second season of “Boardwalk Empire.”

Other auction items include accommodations in Daytona, Fla., and Cancun, Mexico; a cruise on the Hudson River; two adult tickets for NY Skyride at the Empire State Building; dinner at Mohegan Sun; autographed pictures of Rex Ryan, New York Jets head coach, and Paul Teutul Jr. of Orange County Choppers; and golf at Otterkill Country Club in Campbell Hall. There are many other items as well.

All proceeds from the items will go to The Elant Foundation, the not-for-profit charitable arm of the Elant organization. The Elant Foundation garners funds from a variety of resources to fund initiatives that enable Elant’s staff to enhance the quality of life for the people Elant serves.

“This is our second online auction, and the first as a stand-alone fundraiser. Having this unique, collectible television script, generously donated by Rory and Declan, makes it even more exciting.” said Melissa McCoy, Director of Corporate Initiatives at Elant. “Our last auction included a winning bidder from Australia! It is our hope that news of this unique item will once again spark interest from around the globe. An autographed script with such famous actors is definitely a rarity. We are appreciative to all those who have donated to our event and will make our Holiday Auction an enormous success for Elant and its residents.”
