Orange County Executive Steven M. Neuhaus Praises Company’s Generosity
WASHINGTONVILLE, N.Y. (April 8, 2020) – Aurochemicals, an internationally recognized manufacturer of natural aroma ingredients in the flavor and fragrance industry, has generously responded to the coronavirus pandemic by providing tens of thousands of hard-to-find surgical masks to protect healthcare and first-responder teams in the community.
Surgical masks are an example of personal protection equipment (PPE) that is in high demand and short supply during the coronavirus crisis. These supplies – which also include N-95 masks, eye protection, splash guards, gloves, gowns, decontamination supplies and more – are critical safety tools for emergency service technicians (EMTs), paramedics and others.
Aurochemicals recently supplied Orange County Government with 50,000 surgical masks and provided 42,000 masks to Orange Regional Medical Center. The remainder of the masks were provided to organizations preferring to remain anonymous. Aurochemicals CEO Deo Persaud has been collaborating with Focus Media CEO Josh Sommers to identify organizations in need. Focus Media is a prominent Hudson Valley and New York public relations and marketing firm.
“We are so appreciative of the region’s selfless first responders and healthcare professionals,” Persaud said. “That’s why we are honored to make these masks available — not only to contribute to their life-saving efforts, but to safeguard the health of these courageous men and women who first and foremost choose to help others.”
Surgical masks supplied to Orange County will be provided to hospitals, long-term care facilities, police officers, emergency medical technicians, nursing homes and county departments, said Orange County Executive Steven M. Neuhaus. Aurochemicals’ philanthropy represents one of Orange County’s greatest attributes: a warm, enduring sense of community, he said.
“I’m proud of the community’s response to this crisis and have been inspired that so many residents and companies have stepped up to support our first responders and medical professionals. We are grateful for the unwavering support that Aurochemicals has provided to our hard-working first responders. I thank Deo Persaud and the Aurochemicals team for stepping up during this unprecedented time.”
Aurochemicals has donated some of the masks it has provided; others were supplied at cost. First responder or healthcare organizations that provide critical services may contact Aurochemicals to submit a request for surgical masks.
