Annual Spring Rally Coming Up at Mount Peter

Beach Party theme promises big fun, big air and big splashes

WARWICK, N.Y. (March 3, 2019) – Ski season may be winding down, but Mount Peter has a little more wild winter fun planned for its annual Spring Rally on Sunday, March 22. This year, New York’s family mountain is bringing the shore to the slopes with a Beach Party theme. Attendees are encouraged to get into beach-themed costumes, find last year’s sunblock and come on out for a day of thrilling, challenging and, as always, family-friendly fun.

“I can’t think of a better way to say hello to spring than getting in some more mountain time at our Spring Rally, which is always a great time here at Mount Peter,” said Amy Sampson-Cutler, Executive Manager of the ski area. “The annual Spring Rally is our most popular event every season, and it’s a blast seeing guests arrive in creative costumes with their cardboard sleds in tow. The wacky waterski event is always a crowd pleaser, and everyone here just loves the positive vibe of the day.”

The Beach Party schedule includes something for everyone, whether they choose to participate or just enjoy watching the fun unfold. Mount Peter is bringing back its popular obstacle course for children ages five through 10. There will also be a magician performing to dazzle and delight people of all ages during the day.

For those competitors visiting Mount Peter for the Spring Rally, three of the classic contests will be back! A ski jump made just for the day will be the site of the Big Air Contest. Two age groups, 5-14 and 15 and up, will be judged on style, execution and landing. The Rail Jam Contest is open to contestants in two age groups – 14 and under and 15 and up – who will attempt to hit some features set up just for this contest. Then, it’s time to hang ten at The Wacky Waterski Contest. Skiers and snowboarders 18 years old and up are challenged to skim across the surface of a man-made pond – more than 50 feet of icy water – to claim the title of Best on the Beach.

Mount PeterThe Cardboard Race is also back! In this all-ages event, whole families and other teams come together to craft a rideable sled out of cardboard and captain it down the mountain course. Cardboard race rules, including acceptable materials, are posted online at mtpeter.com.

Signatures will be required for all competitive participants, including parental signatures for younger visitors. No reservations are needed, but you must purchase a Lift Ticket/Area Pass to participate in all skiing or snowboarding activities.
