After a Long Winter, Spring Festivals are a Breath of Fresh Air

Mark your calendar for outdoor festival fun in Orange County, N.Y.

ORANGE COUNTY, N.Y. (April 21, 2017) – Spring is in the air, and there’s no better time to enjoy the sights and sounds of the scenic Hudson Valley. Festivals for all tastes and ages are a perfect way to enjoy the milder weather. From a tribute to a local town’s history of UFO sightings to a whimsical day centered on fairies and pirates, each festival offers a unique atmosphere and schedule of events.

“Our fairs and festivals are like mini-vacations taking you to whole new worlds,” said Orange County Tourism Director Susan Hawvermale. “Get away for a day and visit different centuries, exotic cultures, and interesting art forms.”

Here’s a sampling of some festivals on the calendar in Orange County, NY this spring:

May 6, 9:00 a.m.–10:00 p.m.: Beltane Festival at Palaia Vineyards, 10 Sweet Clover Road, Highland Mills. Reminiscent of an ancient Celtic May Day festival celebrating the coming of spring, this family-friendly event will feature entertainment, workshops, food, shopping from over 60 vendors, and the famous Maypole dance at noon. May 19-21: Hoboken International Film Festival at Lake Thomas Morahan Waterfront Park in Greenwood Lake. Showcases the world’s most cutting edge filmmakers and movies, features a jury including multiple film and TV celebrities as well as cash prizes in multiple categories. May 20, 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.: Pine Bush UFO Fair on Main Street. May 20, 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.: Fairy Pirate Day at Museum Village in Monroe. Dress up your favorite fairy or pirate for a magical day of whimsical fun. Can you find all the treasure?
