Walkway over the Hudson advocate will be event’s special guest
Goshen, N.Y.(May 9, 2011) – The Elant Foundation’s 4th annual Elant Golf Open is planned for Thursday, July 14, 2011, at the Dutchess Golf and Country Club in Poughkeepsie. The event is open to the public and sponsored by Med-World Pharmacy, an Omnicare Company.
Proceeds will be directed to this year’s fundraising campaign “Bridging Generations, Making Connections”, whereby Elant shall enhance environments and incorporate technology resources for residents to communicate with loved ones far away, as well as software to enhance the cognition of residents suffering with dementia. Last year, the golf outing raised nearly $50,000.
This year’s special guest is Fred W. Schaeffer, Immediate Past Chairman of the Walkway over the Hudson Board of Directors. Schaeffer, an attorney with offices in Poughkeepsie and Pleasant Valley, is an avid photographer and bicyclist. He is largely responsible for making the Walkway over the Hudson (www.walkway.org) open to the public, gathering support to convert the Poughkeepsie Railroad Bridge, built in 1888, into what is now a park over the Hudson River and an international tourist destination.
“We greatly appreciate the support from the businesses and individuals in our communities and look forward to a wonderful day of golf,” said Melissa McCoy, Elant Inc. Director of Corporate Initiatives. “Their financial support is vital for Elant to provide our residents an enhanced level of care and activities to enrich their daily lives.”
The day begins at 11 a.m. and completes with a dinner beginning at 5 p.m. For chromecast setup iphone registration or sponsorship information, please contact the Elant Foundation at 845-360-1410 or elantfoundation@elant.org.
